Smokey Bay’s purpose evolved from a beginning in farming shellfish to ultimately expanding into seafood trading and logistics for domestic and export markets as a whole.

Established in 1998, Smokey Bay is a North American based enterprise with offices in British Columbia, Canada, and Washington State, USA. Managed by a specialized team with over 60 years combined experience in seafood sourcing and trade.

Every shipment we do has an interesting back story. The seafood we sell originates in rural areas. Whether farmed or wild, the origin is generally remote, and the destination urban. A significant amount of activity and interaction takes place to meet our obligations to suppliers and customers wherever they are located.

Many people make their livelihood along the way – fisherman, farm workers, plant personnel, freight suppliers, regulators, financial, insurance, traders, laboratories, sustainability organizations, distributors, retailers, and chefs. Smokey Bay is proud to be active members in this incredible supply chain.

In 2023 we celebrated our 25th year anniversary. The knowledge and experience developed over that period supports exports and distribution channels for live and fresh shellfish in a dozen countries located in three continents across Asia, Europe, and North America.
